– SUGGESTION to keep supporting local businesses while we go thru this pandemic together.
– THE BAD NEWS. “Shelter in Place” will probably go on a bit longer, perhaps the end of May.
– REPORT that Riverside County did their part early and the surge that was suppose to happen April 12, and it didn’t really happen.
– REPORT 10% of COVID-19 cases will be hospitalized and 1 in 4 will be on a ventilator.
– REPORT that of the cases that have passed, 80% are men. Because me are more likely to smoke, be obese, etc.
– REPORT that if you have the COVID-19 symptoms turning on one’s stomach makes it easier to breathe.
– REPORT that there is no vaccine on the horizon yet.
– REPORT that COVID-19 patients in the hospital on a ventilator stay 8 to 10 days. Important to keep their food intake up.
– DISCUSSION that impact of the virus can last quite a while. Some reports of folks who become re-infected a second time.
– DISCUSSION of nasal and oral swabs for the testing.

– COUNTY still has three testing centers. Most hospitals are not testing.

– REPORT on the new edict by the City of Palm Springs, that everyone in Palm Springs MUST wear a face covering in public. Violators will be fined.
– REPORT on the special Tuesday night City Council meeting. Requiring that businesses must POST a sign that says no one may enter w/out a face covering.

– OBSERVATION on all the closed businesses and empty roads.
– QUESTIONS FROM JOEY PALS. Virus can live 24 hours on paper, 2 to 3 days on plastic and 2 to 3 days on glass. Some thought that the corona virus particles can be suspended in air for “several minutes”.
– REPORT the worst news: Soon we will be @ ICU capacity in Riverside County. 20% of cases are being hospitalized.
– REPORT on masks, now mandatory for anyone leaving their home. Good to see social distancing in the stores. The Plexiglas protection area @ checkouts.
– REPORT the good news: We here in the CV got the “Shelter-In-Place” early enough. Seeing a slow-down in the number of cases.
– REPORT that the virus will probably come back in the Fall, so some measures will remain in place.
– DISCUSSION of the impact on the hospital industry. The hospitals can go to 100 ICU beds @ this time.
