Will begin in Oct., One artist does 1 hour. No real audition, just go in and talk to Allan. Allan will even “mentor” beginners. This has been very successful…i.e. The Palms in the High Desert.

– REPORT the state has just ruled that the CBAS Program (thru the Dept. of Aging and their standard of care) and the Desert Memory Center can now be combined for clients.

– MISSION STATEMENT that Dementia Help Center is the rescue plan for family caregivers. Offer individual and family coaching, personalized planning, care management and placement when the time comes. Fear cripples, but knowledge empowers.
– QUESTIONS FROM “JOEY PALS”
1. Are anti-psychotic medications are dangerous for folks w/ Dementia? (Df., of “off label”. Was created for one issue, but works well for another condition. Drugs in this category are very specific for individual patients. Not one size fits all drugs. These drugs MAY be ok for someone w/ Alzheimers.)
2. If you sit 10 hours a day will that increase my chances of getting Dementia? (Sitting too much decreases the blood flow to the brain and everywhere else. When combined w/ other “health deficits” such as bad diet etc., it’s bad for every part of your body)
– REPORT that you should go from “care giver” to “care manager”. 70% of family members caring for a family member will develop a life-threatening illness.

1. Half of all Americans need long-term care and they don’t have it. Why? (There’s a misunderstanding between long-term care and Medicare. Folks think Medicare provides long-term care, which it DOES NOT. Long-term care means a personal level of care NOT a clinical/medical level of care.)
– REPORT that Medicare is for medical coverage. Does not cover the 7 ADLs.
– REPORT on Medicare Open Enrollment that runs from Oct., 15 – Dec., 7 you can make a change to your plan effective Jan., 1. Then for Medicare Advantage folks there’s an open enrollment from Jan., 1 – Mar., 31, 2024. You can make ONE MORE CHANGE @ this point in time.
– REPORT that you should get an Annual Notification of Change from your insurance company. THERE ARE SO MANY CHANGES COMING, not all are for the better.

2. What is psoriasis? (It’s a complicated, chronic disease. Can be painful, comes in many forms. 8 million Americans have it. Expensive to treat; $75,000/year.)

3. What about higher radiotherapy being good for prostate cancer? Will that mean less treatments? (Use hormonal therapy first, then they use radiation therapy, which is very advanced now. Protest the organs and tissues around the cancer. Some of the therapies are guided by MRI. Higher radiation dose and a shorter treatment time. The CV has great treatment options for Prostate Cancer.)
4. Does exercise prevent cancer and improve my immune system? (Healthy life-style; maintain stable body weight. Exercise helps decrease inflammation in the body which hurts all systems in the body. A lot of inflammation is caused by stress.)
