– REPORT on Nov., 1st FREE Open House in Palm Desert in the Berger Building, right off of Cook Street. Free screening center. This was all social. Raised $170,000. And over 300 folks attended. What the money is going for.
– HOLD THE DATE: March 2024 @ Desert Willows. “Endless Possibilities”. Their big fundraiser w/ surprise entertainment.
– REPORT that there are over 30,000 folks in the CV that are affected by Alzheimer’s. 850,000 new cases by 2025. Every 70 seconds someone is told they have Alzheimer’s.
– REPORT that their facility has expanded to 8,000 where they educated state and personal caregivers; where caregivers can come and DO NOTHING, where there is a screening service for evaluation and report back to the doctors @ D.O.H.C.
– DISCUSSION of how you “screen” for Alzheimer’s. The written results of this activity give you a written report to then share w/ your doctor. African Americans are @ a greater risk for Alzheimers and Dememtia.

– REPORT on D.O.H.C.’s new TV show “The Pulse” that Brian will be on.
– REPORT that Brian has been doing this 17 years of Open Enrollment. Brian has 50 agents that work underneath him.
– QUESTION from “Joey Pals”
1. Is Medicare Advantage as good as standard medicare. (Original Medicare is “reactive” health care and Medicare Advantage is “proactive” health care. There’s a misunderstanding between long-term care and Medicare. Folks think Medicare provides long-term care, which it DOES NOT. Long-term care means a personal level of care NOT a clinical/medical level of care.)
– REPORT that the problem is FINDING the right specialists and coordinating care.
– REPORT on the partnership Brian has w/ D.O.H.C. and the great services they can provide because of it.
– If you have Medicare Advantage you are 4 times less likely to be hospitalized AND re-admitted. 2 times less likely to have chronic illnesses. 1.4 times less likely to need drugs.
– REPORT that Medicare is for medical coverage. Does not cover the 7 ADLs.
– REPORT on Medicare Open Enrollment that runs from Oct., 15 – Dec., 7 you can make a change to your plan effective Jan., 1. Then for Medicare Advantage folks there’s an open enrollment from Jan., 1 – Mar., 31, 2024. You can make ONE MORE CHANGE @ this point in time. On Jan., 2 all things will have changed if you haven’t taken care of the paperwork no later than Dec., 7.
– REPORT that you should get an Annual Notification of Change from your insurance company. THERE ARE SO MANY CHANGES COMING, not all are for the better.
– DISCUSSION of the QR code on the postcards Brian’s office will send out to his clients to book an appointment.
– REPORT that the Medicare Advantage Plans ARE COUNTY SPECIFIC.
– REPORT that all costs WILL INCREASE. Watch the changes in drug costs.
– REPORT that his agency focuses on Medicare. Not many agents do this specialty. He will have on-line and in-person classes to attend to keep up w/ the changes. He has 42 agents that work under him.
– REPORT that Medicare is NOT just for older persons.
– DISCUSSION of his association w/ the clients from D.O.H.C. He is the LOCAL agent and phone number!!!!
– REPORT that there is no cost to help his clients make a sound decision about their Medicare needs and the clients DON’T PAY HIM.
– REPORT that he can’t speak to the changes until Oct. If you didn’t make changes YOU CANNOT for the rest of the year. Now we are in a “lock in” period thru the end of year.

3.j Is there any reason for all the fetal deaths in the U.S. these days? (The U.S. is one of the highest industrial nations when it comes to fetal deaths. Mostly in the poorer areas of the Southern U.S. MA., NH and CA have good fetal survival rates.)

5. What’s this about cell phones and a man’s sperm count? (There’s been shown a decrease in sperm count but not the quality of the sperm in men. Because men tend to keep their cell phones in the pants pockets. I Phones are worse with regard to Radiation than Android phones.)

– REPORT on Mission Statement; “ to enhance the lives of the developmentally disabled and to provide opportunities for people w/ disabilities”. Celebrating 65 years here in the Coachella Valley. In the beginning there was no funding for the developmentally disabled. Ages 18 to 22. A day program, Monday thru Friday. 25 bus routes.
