– DISCUSSION that if you pre-arrange and pay for everything, you really DON’T NEED ANYONE to make ANY decision when you pass away.
– REPORT that you cannot require someone to pay for your funeral if you have not made this arrangement in advance.  AND people need guidance on what you want done.  Relieve your family of this stress.
– DISCUSSION of how the price of a funeral is determined.
– DISCUSSION that the Covid Pandemic has caused people to deal w/ their mortality a bit more.

TOUR DE PALM SPRINGS & COACHELLA VALLEY w/ Tim Esser. Re: Esser Air @ www.esserac.com and (760) 324-0550.
– REPORT that the 24th “ride” started back on Jan., 31, 1998.  It was a bike event in P.S. that would allow local cyclist to ride 5, 15, 25 and 50 miles.  300 cyclists rode in the first event. We had 6 or 8 volunteers.  NOW WE HAVE 2500 volunteers. Was known as Spokes for Different Folks.
– REPORT that riders come from 44 states and 3 or 4 countries.  Usually 10,000 riders.
– HOLD THE DATE; Sat., Feb., 12 for this year’s rides that starts @ 6:30 AM and the last walk/ride starts @ 10 AM. w/ bagpipers from the P.S. Air Museum.  Can sign up starting @ 7 AM.
– REPORT that the start is @ Tahquitz and S. Palm Canyon w/ cheerleaders and a band when you return.  Also drum lines etc.,
– REPORT on all the work “behind the scenes”.

– DISCUSSION that Brian hopes Covid will be “under more control” by Valentine’s Day. He even said “over”.  Slowly seeing a decrease in new cases.
– REPORT that the cases are at least milder than before. Had half the cases w/ Omicron, but twice the hospitalizations.  95% of new cases are unvaccinated.
– EXPLANATION that yet 75,000 more deaths will occur.
– REPORT on the new variant….BA2 and BA3…called the “stealth”.  Spreads quickly, but does not cause as serious an illness.       
– REPORT that the test kits are becoming more available and will be coming to you in the mail.  You can get them FREE (8 per covered person per month) via your health plan.
– REPORT that CHINA’s death rate from COVID is the best in the world, BUT the U.S. is second only to Brazil in being the worst!!!! We here in the U.S. have NOT vaccinated as well as Europe.

1. The BA2 is 1.5 times more contagious than Omicron and is half the cases in U.S. States. (Yes. It has 30 mutations.  More spreadable, less virulant to the host. Stays in the upper airways.  Omincron does not spread well in lung tissue.

2. “Dancing Molecules” can repair severe spinal cord injuries and reverse paralyses? (Yes, these tests are proving beneficial so far, mostly testing done @ Northwestern. Probably not for old injuries. Stay tuned.)

– REPORT on the impact Covid has had on our community and therefore changes in our water usage.

– REPORT that the whole state of CA. is in a state of drought emergency.
– DISCUSSION that since we are in a drought situation, can one build a pool?  We are in good stead w/ our water here in Palm Springs.

– QUESTIONS from “Joey Pals”.
1. I am worried about Windows 11.  Will it just “appear” on my computer? (Windows hasn’t updated for 8 years or so. Don’t worry for a while. Not a requirement, just available.  Windows 10 will be supported until Oct., 14 of 2025)
2. Should I upgrade before that? (You can test your computer to see if it is compatible w/ the new Windows).
– DISCUSSION of new laptops out there. i.e. HP Spector is the X360-14. Can use as a tablet or laptop.
3. Can you be tracked by Google? (You can go into “manage your google account” and go to privacy/history and turn OFF location history.)
– REPORT that the official release of Windows 11 will be in quarter 4.
– DISCUSSION of the changes you will see in Windows 11 vs. 10.  Taskbar, file explorers, multi-tasking, The Microsoft store is completely changed. You can see some of these changes now.
– REPORT that Facebook is easy to hack and you should TURN off any old apps you are not using any more.  Lots of folks are deleting their FB accounts permanently. Call Dennis to do this properly.
4. I got too many spams over the Holidays? (Depends on the browser you are using to get to your email.  Block the senders/Spam control buttons. Google filters out a lot of this for gmail users.)
– REPORT on how Dennis can “take over” your computer and NOW also your phone and IPad remotely, monitor hacks, and run all diagnostic checks for $50./month for up to 3 devices. Spam Assassin is one of his programs. He can check remotely if you have the TPM on your computer. His connection w/ his clients is encrypted and SAFE.
