– REPORT on the concerns in our community from “Joey Pals”:
1. Do you feel about the police situation in the City of Palm Springs? (Optimistic, how the officers feel, etc.).
2. Is recruitment down in Palm Springs? (This is not a problem here. Since the Chief got here the roster is almost full and plenty of people in the pipeline. Takes about a year and a half to educate and train an officer.).
– REPORT on his being honored @ the Tour de Palm Springs. The support of the police for all community events. His officers do a lot of overtime and are truly dedicated.
– DISCUSSION of his family and wife Cathy and their involvement in the community.
3. Is jaywalking not a ticketed offense now? (That’s true but in Palm Springs they will get a warning to be certain they are safe.).
– REPORT that violent crimes are DOWN.
– REPORT on how to be a good, observant citizen.
– REPORT on his views on the homeless population. Not concerned about their “status” but their “behaviors”. Focus on the top 30 folks who need attention. Will enforce several “hot spots”.
– DISCUSSION of the “census” of the homeless population just taken. Got 266 head count. Will count every 2 years, 2 or 3 times a year to see how we are doing.

Highlights young businesses and young talent here in the Valley. Chamber prints 32,000 copies vs 18,000 for the Desert Sun.

– DISCUSSION that Todd has been in the desert 7 years. He comes from the hospitality industry. How he became acquainted w/ the restaurant and eventually bought it in July, 2021. Went through a 5-month wonderful renovation.
– REPORT on the modern American fare he serves and now w/ Brian Ellis on board, Todd has taken everything “up a notch” including the kitchen staff.
– REPORT that “T’s On The Green” focuses on dinner starting @ 5 to 9:30 PM Wednesday thru Saturday for now. Happy Hour 5 to 6:30 PM in the bar and patio. Features “$9. small plates”.
– DISCUSSION on the drinks and wine menu.
– REPORT that “T’s On The Green” is known for it’s musicians. i.e. Bill Marx and Robert Lynn. Thurs., Rick Ross, Fri. Shelly Yoelin, Sat., Trish Hatley…great guest singers too.

– DISCUSSION of the toxic issues re: the train derailment in Ohio. Lots of petroleum products IN THE AIR. How we keep track of the air quality. Small enough particles to inhale are what cause the problems.
– REPORT that good air filters INSIDE your house will help. Check them.
– DISCUSSION of why they burned the dangerous fumes…also leads to particulates in the air.
– REPORT that it’s especially dangerous for folks w/ existing respiratory issues. Will masks help in any way?
– REPORT that it is still Flu Season, GET YOUR FLU SHOT. Hope to eventually have just one vaccine for both covid and flu.
– REPORT THAT Covid numbers in the County are dropping. No recent deaths.
– DISCUSSION that May 11 may be the end of the Covid emergency. Then vaccinations will probably NOT be FREE anymore. Health organization will begin to plan for the next Pandemic!! Paxlovid will fall into a non-emergency situation.
– REPORT that D.O.H.C. Avery Rose R.N.is nominated for an American Heart Association “Woman of Impact” along w/ 2 other employees.
