– REPORT that the Air Museum has 91,000 sq feet of climate-controlled hangers. Dogs are welcome. Open every day.

– QUESTION from a “Joey Pal”.
1. Please have Daniel explain what hours the Airport is open? (It’s open 24/7. The airport is NEVER locked. Checkpoints open @ 4 AM (1st flight in the AM is 6 or 6:30 AM – Airline ticket counters open about 2 hours before that first departure) Checkpoints close @ 5:45 PM or once the last departing flight has left. Last arrival is 10:30 or 11 PM so rental cars stay open a while after that.)
– REPORT that we have an “airport stray cat” that is well taken care of.
– REPORT that AS OF TODAY you can do your TSA pre-check AT THE AIRPORT. Start on-line then do your interview @ the airport. When you get to the airport go to the CLEAR Stand and tell them you are there for your TSA interview. SO on the new check-in procedure, i.e. TSA. (www.tsa.gov) US Global Entry; Clear (www.clearme.com).
– DISCUSSION of PSP being a “spoke”, not a “hub”. A hub is where passengers connect to other flights.

– REPORT that Red-Jeep Tours is in it’s 36th year.
– REPORT that Red-Jeep Tours has put a pause on all of it’s tours for August BUT Joshua Tree. All the Jeeps will be re-furbished.
1. San Andreas Fault Tour – not during the summer.
2. Indian Canyons – not during the summer.
3. Joshua Tree – only one during the sumer.
4. Painted Canyon Tour – not during the summer.
– REPORT that there are 5 Canyons; Palm, Andreas, Murray, Chino and Tahquitz REPORT on the 3 ways the plates move. 1. Subduction zone. 2. Plate spreading. 3. Strike/slip.
– TOPIC FOR TODAY; the Salton Sea.
– REPORT on the “smell” of the Salton Sea we all are smelling now. It’s an enclosed body of water, no fresh water, unless it’s from rain and it carries all the minerals, fertilizers, etc. from the ground around the Sea. Sulfur Dioxide and some of the smell of the fish dying. Large algae bloom as well, which takes all the oxygen out of the water and the fish die.
– REPORT that the Tour Schedule has changed for the summer. Starts @ 7 AM to 10 now. Only early morning because of the heat. No afternoon tours.
– ANNOUNCEMENT that they are hiring…MUST BE ABLE TO DRIVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION.
