– REPORT of their mission statement and that Neuro Vitality Center is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC 5 days a week; 8 AM to 2 PM.
– REPORT the state has just ruled that the CBAS Program (thru the Dept. of Aging and their standard of care) and the Desert Memory Center can now be combined for clients.
– REPORT on the Memory Care Facility.

2. Two programs; CBAS and Memory Club.
3. A really safe environment.
4. Transportation via Sunline.
5. 8 AM to 2 PM w/ 2 meals, activities, exercise, etc.
– HOLD THE DATE; Sept., 6 Open Mic resumes.
– DISCUSSION of the level of care you may need from CBAS and go to the transition to the DMC. This is usually easier for the family also. More support this way.

– REPORT of how this new program helped folks who were “aging out” of CBAS.

– MISSION STATEMENT that Dementia Help Center is the rescue plan for family caregivers. Fear cripples, but knowledge empowers.
– QUESTIONS FROM “JOEY PALS” FOR NEXT TIME.
1. What is DONANEMAB? (For early stages of Dementia/Alzheimer. Attacks the protein in a bad brain situation.)
2. Will taking Olive Oil daily help prevent Dementia? (Not really, but a Mediterranean diet that includes Olive Oil will. The best thing to do each day IS TO WALK).
3. Is there an “at home” Dementia Test? (Yes.)
4. If you don’t have a bowel movement for 4 days it that a sign of Dementia? (No a problem w/ your digestive system.)

1. What does Brian think/know about insurance issues and homelessness? (To get access to health care you MUST have a permanent physical address. There are Medicare services available to some homeless folks. Can’t use the address of the rescue mission.)
– REPORT that Brian has been doing this for 17 years.
– REPORT on how Police Chief Andrew Mills is “on top” of the homeless issue here in Palm Springs.
– REPORT that his agency focuses on Medicare. Not many agents do this specialty. He will have on-line and in-person classes to attend to keep up w/ the changes. He has 42 agents that work under him.
– REPORT that Medicare is NOT just for older persons.
– DISCUSSION of his association w/ the clients from D.O.H.C. He is the LOCAL agent and phone number!!!!
– REPORT that there is no cost to help his clients make a sound decision about their Medicare needs and the clients DON’T PAY HIM.
– DISCUSSION of the commercial about insurance on TV called “lead aggregators” and how undependable they really are.
– REPORT that he can’t speak to the changes until Oct. If you didn’t make changes YOU CANNOT for the rest of the year. Now we are in a “lock in” period thru the end of year.
