– MISSION STATEMENT that Dementia Help Center is the rescue plan for family caregivers. Fear cripples, but knowledge empowers.
– QUESTIONS FROM “JOEY PALS” FOR NEXT TIME.
1. Do constipation drugs lead to more instances of Dementia? (Yes. People who regularly do use laxatives do have a 51% increased risk of overall Dementia).
2. Does walking offset the chance of getting Dementia? (According to Harvard, people who walked over 9,800 steps a day 51% less likely to develop Dementia.).
3. Is there a Schizophrenia drug in trial to prevent Dementia? (No, but some psychotic drugs are used to treat behavioral issues in folks w/ Dementia.)
4. Has Rosalynn Carter got Dementia?(Yes, she was a leading mental health advocate).
5. Can a vaccination for shingles lower your risk of Dementia? (Yes by 20%, because shingles can neurologically affect your brain.)
6. Can a motion patch cause Dementia? (Yes, the symptoms for someone over 45 can mimic Dementia, consult your doctor.)

– REPORT that Medicare enrollment period ended Dec., 7 but Feb., and Mar. is when we start planning for Oct., 15 annual election period.
– DISCUSSION on the fact that there may be significant changes and he KEEPS up w/ all the changes.
– REPORT that you have your Medicare Card for A and B, then there is D for drugs so think of C as a combination of A,B & D.
– REPORT that his agency focuses on Medicare. Not many agents do this specialty. He will have on-line and in-person classes to attend to keep up w/ the changes.
– REPORT that Medicare is NOT just for older persons.
– REPORT on what we should be doing about insurances @ this time OF THE YEAR. The rules about what you can and cannot do are hard to understand.
– REPORT that he can’t speak to the changes until Oct. If you didn’t make changes YOU CANNOT for the rest of the year. Now we are in a “lock in” period thru the end of year.
– REPORT that CA. wants you to re-file each year for your Medical benefits as of April 1. As of July last year lots of rules changed. YOU NEED BRIAN.
– REPORT that this is so complicated one should work w/ Brian to get through it. WATCH out for “tricks”…..speak w/ Brian to be certain.
– REPORT that Brian will serve his clients in their home, in his office, on the phone. He has all the special classification to do all of this.

PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT w/ Daniel Meier. Re: Deputy Director of Aviation, Marketing & Air Service @ Palm Springs International Airport.
– REPORT on the cruise he and his Sister took their Mother on. The fact that the sea-sickness/motion patch behind the ear can cause horrible disorientation.
– REPORT that the new website will be up in about 30 days. Go live date is July 6. i.e. TSA checkpoint wait times, lost and found etc.
– REPORT on the FUSE CONNECT coming on board to be the new in-terminal concession vendor. Lots of digital application.
– CONTINUING REPORT that the Palm Springs International Airport has received $5.7 million dollars from the Department of Transportation to improve, renovate and expand the baggage handling facility. Needs the expansion as the airport is soooo busy.
– REPORT on the Master Plan. Will be a 30-month process. The airport wants public input for suggestions. Visible on the website; www.palmspringsairportmasterplan.com Will guide the airport for the next twenty years.
– REPORT on possible electric planes and that there may be a vertiport to land electric aircraft probably used for short-range flights at first!!!!!
– DISCUSSION that Vertiports are in the works now. United has electric aircraft in development now.
– REPORT on how the fueling happens for the Airport.
– DISCUSSION of what type of fuel different planes use.
– REPORT that the new concourse will open w/ all the new restaurants and shops will open this Fall.
– REPORT that there is a new website that will tell you what you can and cannot take. www.tsa.gov and go to the section “what can I bring”.
– REPORT on the new check-in procedure; i.e. TSA. (www.tsa.gov) US Global Entry; Clear (www.clearme.com). Now you don’t have to go to a TSA office, starting soon will just have to go to PSP.
