– 3/7 – FREE Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival. 9 AM – 4 PM @ Palm Desert Civic Center Park.
– W/ a Safety Fair, check station for their child seat.
– Kids Zone w/ activities provided for the kids that they can take home. Face painting. Climbing wall. Live animals too.
– Gift shop, food to purchase.
– Beer and Wine Garden for purchase.
– Raffles, live music.
– Mission is as a “non-profit land conservation” organization. They “buy” land from willing sellers then they preserve and conserve the land. Over 16,000 acres. Also sell land to the Bureau of Land Management.
– Volunteers needed so apply on the web site.
– Visitor’s Center is on Hwy., 74, 4 miles up going South.
– DISCUSSION of the suggestions for hiking safely. i.e. phone, water, extra clothing, etc.

– DISCUSSION of their history of making films and how they started their film company and how they named it from Native American lore.
– Their previous 3 short films; “Nephilim”, “For the Love of Noodles” and “Bunker”.
– Their current project “Captive, Pray for
Sunlight”. Their need to raise funds for this production. www.captivethefilm.com. Also have a crowd funding campaign on Kick Starter that will begin on March 3. Will be shot in Albuquerque.
– Their next films will be feature films and will have bigger budgets.

– DISCUSSION of the remodeling going on up there. Should be done by late June. There will be a grand re-opening. Expect new bars and restrooms, etc. In the meantime the “fine dining” from “Peaks” will be presented in the “Forest View Room”. FABULOUS view. Make reservations. Open 11 to 8.
– Pines Café has wonderful food and is more casual. Menu will change there too. i.e. fried chicken and mac and cheese.
– Will be changing the menu to more hearty things for the colder weather.
– John is also the Executive Chef.
– John is the President of the P.S. Chamber and President Elect for the P.S. Rotary.
– DISCUSSION of Easter offerings on 4/12. Sunrise services and then the “Forest View Room” will open for an Easter Buffet. MAKE RESERVATIONS by phone or on-line. $29.95 for adults and $17.95 for kids.

– Can make multi-sliding glass doors that slide into a “rod pocket” and disappear completely.
