– REPORT on “Men Of The Desert” event on Dec., 3. Very successful. Monies raised go to support their adoption rescue alliance and to the no-kill shelter in Thousand Palms. LuLu’s did the food. Raised over $200,000. w/ 483 attendees.
– DISCUSSION that donations are needed now. Do an “end of the year” mailer. There is a matching gift up to $15,000. Go to the website or through the mail.
– REPORT that their operating budget per year is $6 to 7 million for the clinics, the shelter and the volunteer programs.
– HOLD THE DATE: Feb., 3 @ Pet Smart in La Quinta 1st Sat., of every month from 11 AM – 1 PM. DISCUSSION of the adoption process and questions.
– DISCUSSION of the success Animal Samaritans has had in adopting animals to their Forever Homes and making room for more animals in the shelters.
– REPORT that Feb., is “Have a Heart for Homeless Pets” month. Monies raised ALL MONTH by donations. On-line or in person. Partnered w/ the “Cowboy Cantina” in Palm Desert on Hwy., 111. – MISSION STATEMENT that Dementia Help Center is the rescue plan for family caregivers. Offer individual and family coaching, personalized planning, care management and placement when the time comes. Fear cripples, but knowledge empowers.
– RESULTS OF A SURVEY; that they did with their caregivers. Two words that came up were 1. Patience and 2. Acceptance.
– REPORT on the challenge for patient and care-giver is to ACCEPT the diagnosis and all that it brings. Because people DO NOT GET BETTER.
– DISCUSSION of whether there is a difference in a care-giver who is a relative vs. a hired professional.
