AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN. w/ Kathi Farber re; 707 Tahquitz Cyn., Palm Springs.
– FOUNDED HERE IN P.S. in 1949. Celebrating 75 Anniversary on Sat., Jan., 13 @ Desert Willow Country Club. 11:30 AM. Will honor 8, fifty-year members. $60. For one person or $100. For two persons.
– MISSION STATEMENT; To advance gender equity for women and girls through research, education, and advocacy and philanthropy in the CV and nation-wide.
– DISCUSSION of the timeliness of this discussion.
– REPORT on Title 9 that was passed in the 70’s for women to have equal access to sports under the law is part of their focus AGAIN.
– DISCUSSION of how to join and scholarships available to join and a woman’s student fee of only $18.You have to have at least attended SOME college.
– MEETINGS once-a-month @ Morton’s Steakhouse on the 2nd Sat., of each month.

ANIMAL SAMARITANS w/ Valerie Kattz and Jarred Ellis 73-407 Ramon Road, Thousand Palms, CA.
– REPORT on “Men Of The Desert” event on Dec., 3. Very successful. Monies raised go to support their adoption rescue alliance and to the no-kill shelter in Thousand Palms. LuLu’s did the food. Raised over $200,000. w/ 483 attendees.
– DISCUSSION that donations are needed now. Do an “end of the year” mailer. There is a matching gift up to $15,000. Go to the website or through the mail.
– REPORT that their operating budget per year is $6 to 7 million for the clinics, the shelter and the volunteer programs.
– HOLD THE DATE: Feb., 3 @ Pet Smart in La Quinta 1st Sat., of every month from 11 AM – 1 PM. DISCUSSION of the adoption process and questions.
– DISCUSSION of the success Animal Samaritans has had in adopting animals to their Forever Homes and making room for more animals in the shelters.
– REPORT that Feb., is “Have a Heart for Homeless Pets” month. Monies raised ALL MONTH by donations. On-line or in person. Partnered w/ the “Cowboy Cantina” in Palm Desert on Hwy., 111. Every Monday from 4 to 9 PM and MUST mention Animal Samaritans they will donate 15% of your ticket to Animal Samaritans.
– REPORT on every Monday FED., DINNERS @ Cowboy Cantina.
– HOLD THE DATE; Feb., 24 “Drag Bingo” @ the Barracks in Cathedral City from 3 – 5 PM. Bring your pet.
– HOLD THE DATES: March or April “Caterday Breakfast” and August for “Dogust”.
