– QUESTIONS IN THE MEDICINE CABINET from; Dr. Lindsey, Dr. Brian, news, Internet and Joey Pals in the “Medicine Cabinet”.
1. Explain an addiction to the Internet impacting teenager’s brains? (Study done in England. Studied over a ten-year span. Could tell that kids that spend gaming (recreational) use vs function (school work) use. Study showed significant changes in the neuroconnections between the front of the brain (where executive functioning, decision making, thought happens) and the rest of the brain. Disassociation between the normal function of the brain and learning. Internet Gaming Disorder in the U.S. is a real concern. CAUSES kids to 1. Withdraw. 2. Makes their world smaller, not bigger. 3. Stay in their room (definitely an addictive posture). Need to create other activities.)
2. A study says 75% of past covid patients NOW have a heart condition? (Yes. We knew this in the beginning. Now a new study of patients between the ages of 18 and 83 showed 75% of these folks had elevated proteins that are normally associated w/ heart attacks. Mostly of folks between 40 and 60. Covid has the ability to raise this protein. Seems to “drop” eventually.)

3. What is DESERT FEVER? (Very real, between June 30 and Sept., 30. Called other things i.e. “valley fever”, etc. A blood test will show if you have antibodies against this and then it can be treated. Found in very dry climates. Caused by a fungus. Spores that hide in the dust, then you inhale them and they go into your lungs. Most people have no issues but some folks get a slight case of “Valley Fever” 1. Shortness of breath. 2. Fever. 3. Cough. 4. Chest pains. Looks like COPD sometimes. Most of the time the symptoms go away but the fungus DOES NOT. If you have a WEAK IMMUNE SYSTEM it will not CLEAR the spores. Show up as little masses. In some people it can go into your brain, your spine, your skin. IT IS TREATABLE. Needs to be treated for 3 to 6 months. They will get it again and again and again UNLESS THEIR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS STRONGER.)
4. D.O.H.C. donated more money to Non-Profits.? (D.O.H.C. donates to many many Non-profits. This year D.O.H.C. let their employees pick 3 non-profits and D.O.H.C. gave an extra $30,000 to their choices; Palm Springs Animal Shelter, Desert Cancer Foundation and Find Food Bank.).

1. Because Palm Springs is so dangerous. I.E.In 2022 – 17 fatal traffic accidents. In 2023 – 7; so far this year 5.
The speeds are insane. Police clocked a driver coming into town on 111 @ 154 MPH!!! And the next car was 112 MPH.
A top priority now. #1 Homelessness and #2 Traffic Accidents. Starting OPERATION REAR VIEW MIRROR.
…every time you look in your rear-view mirror BE REMINDED TO SLOW DOWN. Every officer will be writing tickets.
-THREE CAUSES OF ACCIDENTS;
1. DUI.
2. Speed.
3. Running red lights.
– BUZZ STOPS for folks who have been drinking and are buzzed. You can go to a BUZZ STOP, leave your car, NOT get ticketed, take an UBER home and get your car later. DUI tickets are about $20,000 in fines.
