CV HORSE RESCUE w/ Stevi Lamey re: In Indio.
– REPORT on their mission statement; was originally the CV Mounted Posse. Have taken care of over 80 horses so far. Also have a sanctuary in Arizona. They take care of horses that can’t be riden etc., live out their lives.
– REPORT that their staff is mostly women.
– REPORT that they have 10 horses right now and a Pot Bellied Pig named “Mabel”. Janet Zapala wrote an award-winning book about Mabel and her piglet for children.
– HOLD THE DATE: 11.4 from 4 – 9 PM. Coachella Valley Horse Rescue called “Raising Hay” @ the historic J&J Ranch in La Quinta. (John Miller’s Ranch) Music, line dancing, live and silent auction.

MAMA’S HOUSE w/ Maurae Quigley re:
– REPORT on their mission statement. They take in women in crisis; i.e. homeless, from hospitals, from the courts for a year-long “Pathway to Success”.
– REPORT that first a women meets w/ a counselor.
– REPORT on their program for the women.
1. Get a G.E.D.
2. Give them counseling.
3. Pregnancy counseling.
4. Career counseling.
5. Abuse counseling.
6. Doctor’s appointments.
Everything is FREE for them and for their children.
– REPORT that the location of the housing facility is confidential.
– REPORT that the Hope Center is open to the community. Anyone can take classes FOR FREE.
Continuing education classes. Adoption counseling, Mental Health counseling, Substance Abuse help, Art Therapy, etc., On Deep Canyon in Palm Desert.
– REPORT on their proposed expansion project. From 1 home that houses 10 women to 6 homes to house 48 women and their children. Goal is $7.7 million and still need $2.2 million more in donations. Many opportunities for donations. i.e. naming opportunities.
