– REMINDER that the NVC building, acreage, etc. has been purchased by Eisenhower Health. Transitioning into a new program PACE. Location on Alejo will be closed for about one year while EVERYTHING IS REMODELED.
– PACE is built on the Medicare Program. Getting into it is based on financials but is open to everyone.
– REPORT that All programs have transferred over to the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Springs @ Sunrise and Ramon. Phone numbers remain the same. Eisenhower is bringing in a new program called PACE that will have “Clinical Suites” on site.
– ANNOUNCEMENT that they have partnered w/ the Mizell Senior Center. Every Monday there will be a FREE Stroke Recovery Support Group for caregivers, folks at risk of stroke and interested persons. Will be held every other week through the summer.

DEMENTIA HELP CENTER w/ Kae Hammond, re: 75-270 Hwy., 111, Ste., 204, Indian Wells 92210.
– MISSION STATEMENT that Dementia Help Center is the rescue plan for family caregivers. Offer individual and family coaching, personalized planning, care management and placement when the time comes. Fear cripples, but knowledge empowers. Strive to educate, inform and manage the disease and then to thrive.
– REPORT on her clients overall. Clients KNOW when they are experiencing changes long before their friends and family realize the subtle changes. Then there is a MOMENT when the family and friends finally realize. Then it makes it easier to navigate.
– REPORT that there are over 100 forms of Dementia. Really only 12 prevalent ones. Vascular Dementia is the 2nd most common. Alzheimer’s is the 1st most common.
– #1 – DISCUSSION of how the brain and memory is like a “file cabinet”. The file is there, maybe you can’t find it.
– #2 – DISCUSSION of how to be a “safe person” for a person w/ Dementia. Dementia sufferers seem to have a “sense” of who is “safe” and who is not. More basic. One of the last things we lose is our sense of hearing and our awareness of emotions.
– #3 – DISCUSSION that you should HAVE A PLAN. Think in the present about a plan no matter what happens tomorrow. i.e. viable power of attorney for your health care, your finances, your final wishes, etc.

– REPORT that the Joslyn Center has at least 80 programs, activities and FREE COUNSELING for folks.

1. Why are all the ads on TV about calling to see if you are entitled to more services than you think you have. i.e. Medicare and Medical.
– REPORT on Medigap gives you freedom to choose providers anywhere in the country.
– MEDICARE PART D – the most utilized component of your Medicare because you take your medications EVERY DAY.
- REPORT on Part C which is Medicare Advantage. You have to pick a primary care doctor associated w/ someone such as D.O.H.C.
– REPORT on the big changes for Medicare Part D coming in 2025, especially in the “donut hole”. Possible limit of $2,000. for out-of-pocket costs. Affects the formulary going forward. 33% of personal costs will go up to 50% next year.
– REPORT on Medicare Part D. For drugs. Most Medicare Advantage Plans have this. Medicare is going to put a cap in 2025 on the out-of-pocket maximum of $2000. for Part D. GREAT.
– SUBJECT FOR “JOEY PALS”
1. Agents are beginning to prepare for 2025. (Begins in June. AHIP Certification that is a special requirement for a licensed insurance agent to have a conversation about Medicare part C or D. and an agent must get this EVERY YEAR.)
2. Change to Medicare Part D, which is your prescription drugs. You can get this one of 2 ways;
a. GOOD NEWS; Putting an “out of pocket” maximum on Part D. $2,000. Max. This will automatically change, established by CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services).
b. Part of Medicare Advantage.
– REPORT that all costs WILL INCREASE for most other folks. Watch the changes in drug costs, deductibles and co-payments.
– REPORT that is BAD NEWS is that there will be shrinking Formularies. (the list of medications that Medicare covers)
– REPORT that Brian will serve his clients in their home, in his office, on the phone. He has all the special classification to do all of this.

Can predict thru a cheek cell. Created a 21% decrease in life expectancy. STRESS is the biggest cause of shorter life spans.)

3. What is high/low cholesterol and? (There is good and bad cholesterol. Your body needs it and MAKES it in your liver. Only 30% comes from diet. You make the rest. HDL is the good cholesterol. SO, if you are a male you want it over 45 and if you are a female you want it over 50. LDL is the bad cholesterol and is sticky and causes strokes and heart attack. You want this under 100. Total cholesterol should be 200 or under.)
4. What is the best diet? (5 science-based ones: 1. Low carb. 2. Mediterranean. 3. Paleo. 4. Vegan. 5. Glutton free.)
