– She’s the General Manager/Store Manager @ Mike Thompson RV in Cathedral City.
– DISCUSSION of the timing of more inventory because the supply change broke down due to the Pandemic.
– REPORT that the dealership in Cathedral City is actually the smallest Mike Thompson dealership but they will get the new models FIRST.
– REPORT on the new styles and colors coming out. New colors are “sterling” and “linen”.
– NEED for trade-ins and consignment sales available to customers.
– DISCUSSION of the referrals to all services she can provide to customers.
– REPORT that most RV’S are made in Indiana, Iowa and luxury ones in Alabama!!!
– DISCUSSION of the timing of getting a “custom” coach during COVID-19 being about 4 months @ this point in time.
– REPORT that Mike Thompson’s business is brisk because people want to live/sleep/eat in their own space, i.e. in their R.V. and not travel via air or car and stay in hotels etc.,
– Sher SELLS used motor coaches. Will take trade-ins of ANYTHING. NEED TRADE-INS/NEED INVENTORY. Will take on consignment and/or trade-ins and will pay OVER book value.

BROOKDALE MIRAGE INN w/ Kurt Suminski 72750 Country Club Dr., Rancho Mirage, CA., 92270. He is the Clare Bridge/Memory Facility Co-Ordinator.
– DISCUSSION of the Mission Statement and the Three levels @ Brookdale care provides: 1.) Independent Living 2). Assisted Living and 3.) Memory Care/Alzheimer’s/Dementia (Clare Bridge).
– !!!ANNOUNCEMENT!!! that the County will now let Brookdale open the dining room w/ all COVID-19 precautions. Residents are so excited to interact w/ servers, the other residents, the food and cocktails.
Chef Ramses has created new menu items to celebrate.
– DISCUSSION that residents are beginning to have the various activities return. At this point in time the Memory Care folks are in their own facility.
– REPORT on the new pool furniture for the newly re-opened pool. Better to have any activities outside than inside.
– REPORT on new patio furniture and umbrellas. Also new flowers!!! Yay!!! Bright and colorful.
– REPORT that there are some vacancies @ Brookdale in Assisted Living and Memory Care. New sales director, Jennifer.
– DISCUSSION of the “freedom” level in Memory Care where residents are able to “wander”/walk/stroll in their own area…fully safe and regulated.

DEMENTIA HELP CENTER w/ Kae Hammond re: President & Founder; 495 Town Center Way, 44 Ste., B, Palm Desert, CA. 92260.
– DISCUSSION of the conversation we were having w/ Kurt re: Alzheimer/dementia patients forming friendships/associations. “Now they are among equals”. These relationships change and adjust as the patient goes thru different stages as well.
– DISCUSSION that patients who are kept @ home by well-meaning families, who think they “know” they’re way around, actually become isolated and are not stimulated because families are busy w/ their own lives.
– REPORT that Alzheimer/Dementia patients KNOW there is someone else LIKE them.
– REPORT that Alzheimer is one of 98 forms of Dementia!!!
– REPORT that one can live a long happy life w/ Alzheimer. Even if you are in the EARLY later stages of the disease.
– DISCUSSION that a highly trained caregiver can READ the patient and understand that even belligerence is not necessarily to be taken personally.
– REPORT that letting a professional step in preserves the family relationship many times.

FOREST LAWN w/ Larry Davis re: 69855 E. Ramon Rd., Cathedral City, CA. 92234.
– DISCUSSION of Larry being in the business for over 40 years and how it has changed during this Pandemic.
– REPORT on the county and state mandates for funeral services. Forest Lawn can now have services outside in the 2 big tents (first one in Coachella) he has that can have 50 persons for a service. Decorated w/ beautiful plants, fans, chairs, sound equipment, tv screens etc.,
– REPORT that folks still wear masks and sit w/ social distancing unless they are from the same household.
– REPORT that there have been earlier morning services outside in the tent and they have been lovely. The casket is there too and is open or closed.
– There have been functions and memorial services in the tent. People feel comfortable and safe in a private setting.
– REPORT on the demeanor of the families who lose loved ones during the Pandemic.
– DISCUSSION of how the planning meetings for services are now done over the phone w/ Forest Lawn.
– Forest Lawn has the appropriate plastic shields in place and provide masks for anyone who doesn’t have one.
– REPORT that our own mortality is being discussed more during this Pandemic. Time to make your final plans. Forest Lawn is having these conversations over the phone, on-line etc., Paperwork can even be done over the phone and virtually as well.
– REPORT that Forest Lawn has NEVER been closed, is considered an essential business.

NEURO VITALITY CENTER w/ Dr. Jay Seller re: Chief Executive Officer @ 2800 E. Alejo Road, Palm Springs, CA. 92262.
– DISCUSSION of his professional history and moving here from Denver, CO.
– REPORT that the Neuro Vitality Center is very “person centered”. The facility is still closed to the public @ this point in time. Kitchen, gym, nurse, social worker etc., still working in one form or another, thanks to all the technology.
– REPORT that NVC has “gifted” most of their clients w/ tablets if needed so they can keep in virtual communication w/ all the professionals and services available @ NVC.
– Neuro Vitality Center is providing Temporary Alternative Services (TAS) to their clients virtually now, w/ an instructor, a nurse, etc.,
– REPORT that all emergencies should still be handled thru 911. However, most of their clients have caregivers as well.
– DISCUSSION the caregivers are usually participating in the Zoom/virtual classes along w/ the client.
– DISCUSSION of what the NVC services “might” look like in our “new normal”.

– REPORT that Oct., is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
– REPORT on the extended hours for mammograms @ the Comprehensive Cancer Center @ D.R.M.C. “Mammo Mondays” 8 AM to 5:30 PM. ….call (844) 780-3299). You get a pink popcorn box w/ “goodies” inside when you call and schedule a mammogram in Oct.,
– DISCUSSION that men can also get breast cancer.
– REPORT on signs of breast cancer in women. 1. Some sort of lump. 2. Other side effects throughout your body. 3. Any thing that seems “slightly off”.
– REPORT on the different types of mammograms…..2 D, 3D Abus Automated Breast Ultrasound System, Diagnostic breast ultrasound, and breast biopsy systems.
– DISCUSSION that you should start mammograms @ age 40 unless you have a family history of breast cancer and then you should start @ age 30 because you have a higher chance (1.24 times) of getting breast cancer w/ that family history.
– THE GOOD NEWS of a 99% survival rate if breast cancer is caught early.

– DISCUSSION of the important of moisture for cats and dogs. Cats prefer “running water”, not still water. Cats should have wet food over dry food.
