– REPORT on the National Funeral Museum in Houston, TX. i.e. Presidential funerals, history of embalming, Pope’s funerals, history of cremation, horse drawn carriages, the Mercedes hearse from Princess Grace’s funeral, etc., etc.
– Questions from “Joey Pals”.
1. Why did the funeral home “dress” my loved one before cremation? (Usually family requests this dignified step).
2. When you lie in state and are going to be cremated, do you lie in a casket or a box of some type? (In a casket).
– DISCUSSION of how burial regimes have changed over the years. i.e. why there are earth mounds over graves because eventually the weight of the dirt will collapse into the earth and create a sunken space.
– REPORT on the fact that Forest Lawn has to adhere to OSHA rules and regulations, not the state of CA.
Different rules than for churches, etc.
– REPORT that Forest Lawn can have large gathering outside.
– DISCUSSION of Forest Lawn’s main goal to keep families and employees safe.
– DISCUSSION that due to Covid-19 folks have learned that things happen quickly and unexpectedly. NEED TO PRE-PLAN AND PRE-PAY.
– REPORT that sometimes the person who is in the final stages of life may come in and want to participate in the planning for their own service.
– DISCUSSION of what Larry’s late wife Linda did 15 years ago to pre-plan.

– DISCUSSION of their mission statement; focus on the patient, NOT the disease. Work w/ people who have neurological issues.
– REPORT that NVC has been reaching out to clients thru ZOOM, BUT ON JULY 6, the doors will be open!!!!
– DISCUSSION of Bootsy and Brenda who come up w/ the programs for clients. Many of the new skills learned will carry over to the “new normal”.
– REPORT that Parkinson patients HAVE to do their exercises every day.
– REPORT that Allan will focus on fund raising as well.
– REPORT that NVC is one of the few facilities in the world to service stroke patients as they do.
– REPORT that they are now affiliated thru CVAS and can get programs for many folks @ no charge.
– REPORT on their food program for lunch @ the Center.
– DISCUSSION of the attitude of returning clients as the “masks come off”. Lol. Clients have missed the community/socialization interaction w/ others in similar situations.
– REPORT on the need for volunteers. Just call.
– DISCUSSION that they are open from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Start seeing clients about 8 ish.
– REPORT on the facilities, gardens, equipment, etc. i.e. the new garden club that’s starting.

LOVING ALL ANIMALS w/ Michael Russell re: 83496 Ave., 51 in Coachella, CA.
– REPORT that as of last July they have NOT euthanized any dogs @ their facility.
– DISCUSSION that there seem to be more care needed for the animals. New challenges.
– REPORT that in 1998 the State of CA. said we had to end the euthanasia of animals by 2010. Didn’t happen by 2010, but did happen in 2020.
– DISCUSSION that we are ALWAYS in “kitty season”. We need to spay/neuter more. Vet services are starting to open back up w/ some restrictions. WE NEED TO FUND RAISE to cover these costs.
– LOVING ALL ANIMALS can micro-chip now since it is not considered a medical procedure. If you take an animal into a shelter YOU CAN NOT GET YOUR ANIMAL BACK if it is not micro-chipped.
– SAVE THE DATES:
11/13 – 11 AM TO 2 PM “Spayghetti and No Balls” fund raiser @ Lindi Biggi’s home.
1/1/22 – New Year’s Day function @ Lindi Biggi’s home.
– DISCUSSION of the need for volunteers @ our animal shelters.

– DISCUSSION of how she funded it herself and then started the non-profit. The strays that she finds ARE NOT MICRO-CHIPPED.
– FUNDRAISER @ Quick Quack Car Wash. Go to her website and donate $10. To CVCC and you get a voucher for the TOP wash @ Quick Quack.
– REPORT that there’s a “Chewy Wish List” on her website.
– REPORT that she really needs foster homes for these cats. She needs helpers to aid in the care of the cats. Some are still “on the streets”. OH NOI!!!
– REPORT that predators TAKE CATS TOO. Chris is very careful about who she gives her saved cats to.

– REPORT on the history that caused the creation of Amy’s Purpose. Amy was a 4 year-old rescue doggie that was murdered in the High Desert by coyotes, even though she was in a fenced back yard.
– DISCUSSION that this effort is not AGAINST the predators but is ABOUT information to increase awareness about predators. The predators ARE EVERYWHERE. Snakes, coyotes, bobcats, EVEN human, etc.,

– DISCUSSION that she wants to have grief counseling available for those who lose their furry family members.
– REPORT on tips about what to do when your pet is threatened. 1. Keep an eye on your pet NO MATTER WHERE you live. 2. Boat horns are very effective against predators and are available on Amazon. 3. Different sprays are available on Amazon. 4. Wolf urine from Amazon around your yard.

– REPORT on the 30 different kinds of breads. No preservatives in any of their breads. They employ the services of a “bread chemist”. i.e. pumpkin chocolate chip bread, etc. MAKE GREAT GIFTS.
