1. What are the regulations/issues/restrictions etc., that surround OR WILL affect AI, Social Media, Rights of Privacy, the 1st Amendment, etc?
– REPORT that Joe Is working on a paper for law school about the regulations being developed for all this advanced science and technology? Apparently, at this point in time, there is a regulation that says WE CANNOT REGULATE SAME!!!
J. Is writing a paper that focuses on algorithms and accountability. Sec.,#230 Communications/Decency act from 1996. It says that all the social platforms CAN NOT BE HELD legally responsible for user content. The 26 words that created the Internet.
J. REPORT on the problems this position now creates. It has not evolved to keep up w/ the issues and advancements of technology. This leaves many issues w/ NO legal recourse or remedy.
W. DISCUSSION of how quickly this has happened. AND that perhaps the people who are in a position to create these needed regulations and laws will not be motivated to do so due to monetary consideration and the profitability of the new technologies. i.e. Exploitation of the Internet over the victims.
J. EXAMPLES of the harmful content of these issues.
W. DISCUSSION that if/when these regulations and laws become active, they will be hopefully be ENFORCED thru the existing legal system. “Was this act one that could harm someone else?”. Common principles should/will be applied. Juries will come into play.
Will be Federal Law. States may want to regulate certain parts of this question.
W. DISCUSSION that there is NOT necessarily a mind-set in place @ this time to deal with this.
J. REPORT on “reasonableness” as it pertains to timing. The U.S. is rather far behind OTHER COUNTRIES to impose some safety statues in this area. We need a framework to take a Hybrid approach. Especially for vulnerable users. COMMON SENSE. The ”influencer” would be found to be wrong when the content becomes monetized or risky.
