EISENHOWER HEALTH w/ Lee Rice, 17 years as Media Co-ordinator and Communications Specialist. And Dr. Jamie De Vito board certified dermatologist re: Eisenhower Health 39000 Bob Hope Dr., Rancho Mirage, CA. 92270.
– REPORT on how she got into dermatology. Went to Cornell, Tulane and Colombia to school. She also got a business degree.
– REPORT that if you see something on your body CHANGING, let your doctor know. “Take a look” anyway you can.
– REPORT that after 20 or 30 years of age, visit your dermatologist once a year. SURVEILLANCE IS KEY. Melanoma season in Palm Springs is YEAR-ROUND.
– DISCUSSION that a lot of the skin damage that appears now happened decades ago.
– REPORT on things to do;
1. Wear sunscreen.
2. Wear a hat.
3. Avoid going out between 10 AM to 4 PM.\
– REPORT on the ABCDE’s of Melanoma.
1. A – Asymmetrical (want moles to be round)
2. B – Border (want moles to be smooth and round)
3. C – Color (not multiple colors or changing color)
4. D – Diameter (watch if moles are growing in diameter, bad if bigger than a pencil eraser)
5. E – Evolving (changing in ANY WAY AND WATCH for new moles.)
– REPORT you can get a melanoma ANYWHERE on your body.
– REPORT on risk factors;
1. If you have lots of moles.
2. If you have a history of chronic sun exposure; history of sunburns.
3. If you can’t tan, no matter how hard you try.
4. If you have a first degree relative who has had a melanoma.
5. If you have fair eyes and skin.
