– Heat impacts MS patients very badly. A heat stroke is very different from the traditional stroke.
– Positive use of therapy animals on a regular schedule @ the center. (dogs)
– Funded completely by donations. Only facility of it’s kind IN THE WORLD!!!!
– The Center has one-on-one chat rooms to encourage communication.
– Read Bev’s blog on the website.
– Need for volunteers. And they will be trained @ the Center w/ licensed therapists. Need help in speech and cognitive areas. Occupational therapy is used too.
– Statistics on people who volunteer are wonderfully positive.
– Study they did in 2007 showed that folks from the NVC had better quality of life, fewer falls, fewer trips to the Emergency Room
– HARC is going to help design a new study to show the benefits and results of the NVC, to eventually help to raise funds for the Center.
– Stroke patients stay on after their stroke and the “living in fear of another stroke” goes away to a certain degree.

– Besides being a pianist for the Wrecking Crew, he was musical director for Nancy Wilson, Johnny Mathis, Sonny & Cher etc., etc.,
– Was a classically trained musician who turned to jazz @ about 14. Started recording @ 19 on mono, then 2 track, etc.,
– Performed on so many hit records, i.e. for the Jackson 5 and “Strangers In The Night” for Frank Sinatra, The Righteous Brothers “Unchained Melody” etc., etc.,
– Recorded for Motown. Sometimes didn’t even know WHO the artist would be, they were just laying down the tracks.

– Bariatric surgery can be several different procedures, but @ EH Dr. Bobbie both the “Sleeve” and the “Bypass”.
– Must have a BMI of 35 or greater and must have 2 comorbidities.
– Sleeve (banana shaped). Roux-En-Y helps folks w/ diabetes, sleep apnea, etc.,
– Excess skin can be removed after surgery.
– Obesity is genetic and a disease.
– Weight will be off for the most part in 6 months.
– Must be healthy enough for surgery. Test for the surgery is on the web site.
– 7/9 @ 6:30 @ the Annenberg Center @ Eisenhower there will be a Bariatric support group meeting open to all.
