– Gloria Greer started ACT for MS in 1999. because one of her twin daughters has MS.
– Discussion of the services ACT for MS provides. i.e. Circulation therapy, chair yoga, water aerobics, mobility needs, etc.
– Symptoms of MS seem to appear all at once. No idea of the cause and no known cure as yet.
– Have just found that if you delay taking medication or doing therapy for MS because you do not yet have symptoms, the MS becomes a permanent part of the brain.
– Diagnosed w/ an MRI of the spine and brain.

– The 426th Star dedication on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
– Discussion of his life. Known “Mr. Las Vegas”, “Mr. Entertainment”, and “The Midnight Idol”.
– Plays 13 musical instruments. He learned to play all these instruments to order to rest his voice due to his health issues.
– His health issues as a child, (i.e. asthma) and the family move to Arizona; his incredible strength in spite of these issues.
– Has done 50,000 or 60,000 shows in Vegas up to now.
– Currently @ Bally’s.
– Discussion of his being half Native American. He is also a direct descendant of Pocahontas. Wayne is involved w/ a Native American project near Redlands.

– All adopted animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. You will get a leash, collar, harness and name tag. You also get food, dishes, and a bed.
– Number one name for a rescued doggie is “Lucky”.

FAMILY HOSPICE CARE w/ Dr. Howie Cohen re: 255 El Cielo Rd., C-300, Palm Springs, CA.
– People are referred to hospice by their doctors, care-givers, and/or families. Then they have a consult after an official request.
– Hospice patients must be within 6 months of the end-of-life (if their disease continues on it’s current course.)
– Older patients are more accepting of hospice than younger ones.
– Dr. Cohen teaches medical residents about hospice and how to deliver the sometime very bad, negative news. There are protocol guidelines. NEVER over the phone, must be done in a face-to-face situation.
– The “hope” that hospice gives to a patient, comes under the heading of support and comfort.
– Good book called “The Four Agreements” for residents, doctors and care-givers.
– Hospice is about living not about dying.

– 11/27 – 533 Viet Fusion, 1775 E. Palm Cyn., Dr., Ste., 625, P.S. (restaurant is named after the numbers on the side of the Navy Ship that rescued the original owner as he fled Viet Nam) are donating 20% of their proceeds for the entire day to NVC. They serve lunch and dinner.
– Newest program: “SongShine Foundation”. An immersive music program that strengthens voices – addressing the issue of a diminished voice due to Parkinson, stroke, aging and other neurological conditions.
– NVC is the only facility of its kind in the world.
