Hour 2 Seg 3 – cont. “Senior Moment” Segment

FOREST LAWN w/ Larry Davis re: 69855 E. Ramon Rd., Cathedral City, CA. 92234.
– REPORT on the National Funeral Museum in Houston, TX. i.e. Presidential funerals, history of embalming, Pope’s funerals, history of cremation, horse drawn carriages, the Mercedes hearse from Princess Grace’s funeral, etc., etc.
– Questions from “Joey Pals”.
1. Why did the funeral home “dress” my loved one before cremation? (Usually family requests this dignified step).
2. When you lie in state and are going to be cremated, do you lie in a casket or a box of some type? (In a casket).
– DISCUSSION of how burial regimes have changed over the years. i.e. why there are earth mounds over graves because eventually the weight of the dirt will collapse into the earth and create a sunken space.
– REPORT on the fact that Forest Lawn has to adhere to OSHA rules and regulations, not the state of CA.
Different rules than for churches, etc.
– REPORT that Forest Lawn can have large gathering outside.
– DISCUSSION of Forest Lawn’s main goal to keep families and employees safe.
– DISCUSSION that due to Covid-19 folks have learned that things happen quickly and unexpectedly. NEED TO PRE-PLAN AND PRE-PAY.
– REPORT that sometimes the person who is in the final stages of life may come in and want to participate in the planning for their own service.
– DISCUSSION of what Larry’s late wife Linda did 15 years ago to pre-plan.
– REPORT that people in the final stages of their life WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT!!!!
