TMJ PALM DESERT w/ Dr. Leonard Feld, DDS, MES. and Cheryl, a patient. 74-976 Hwy., 111, Indian Wells, CA. 92210.
– Defined the relationship of the misaligned jaw and neurological illnesses.
– Developed an appliance for the mouth that releases the pressure which may relieve the blockage of necessary chemical messengers to the brain. That way there is no surgery and no pills.
– If the jaw is in the wrong place, there can be serious problems.
– 35% of the energy to the brain runs through the jaw. The trigeminal nerve.
– 100% of all the people w/ Parkinsons, Alzheimers and Demetia have jaw issues that may not be defined in the dentist’s chair.
– Discussion w/ Cheryl about her experience w/ Dr. Feld. She went to the dentist for a traditional procedure, and Dr. Feld found she had other issues, i.e. teeth grinding, lack of sleep, couldn’t walk etc., Dr. Feld made an appliance for her mouth (like a retainer) that corrected things for her.

– Gloria Greer started ACT for MS in 1999. because one of her twin daughters has MS.
– Discussion of the services ACT for MS provides. i.e. Circulation therapy, chair yoga, water aerobics, mobility needs, etc.
– Symptoms of MS seem to appear all at once. No idea of the cause and no known cure as yet.
– Have just found that if you delay taking medication or doing therapy for MS because you do not yet have symptoms, the MS becomes a permanent part of the brain.

FAMILY HOSPICE CARE w/ Dr. Howie Cohen re: 255 El Cielo Rd., C-300, Palm Springs, CA.
– People are referred to hospice by their doctors, care-givers, and/or families. Then they have a consult after an official request.
– Hospice patients must be within 6 months of the end-of-life (if their disease continues on it’s current course.)
– Older patients are more accepting of hospice than younger ones.
– Dr. Cohen teaches medical residents about hospice and how to deliver the sometime very bad, negative news. There are protocol guidelines. NEVER over the phone, must be done in a face-to-face situation.
– The “hope” that hospice gives to a patient, comes under the heading of support and comfort.
– Good book called “The Four Agreements” for residents, doctors and care-givers.
– Hospice is about living not about dying.
