– Discussion of the “injuries” Kirk Douglas sustained in the movies.
– Kirk did most of his own stunts.
– When “Spartacus” was made it cost more to make than Universal Studio was worth.
– Kirk did all kinds of movies, western, war, drama, etc., and was on Broadway.
– Joel said Kirk was sometimes hard to recognize when he came home from shooting, he was so “into the character”.
– Joel’s memories of the advantages of growing up as one of Kirk Douglas’s sons.
– On Joel’s Mother’s (Diana) side, he’s very British and on his Dad’s side, he is Russian Jewish. How Karl Malden helped change Kirk’s name and visa-versa.
– Kirk doesn’t watch his own movies.
