– REPORT on the Community Based Adult Service Program. (CBAS)
1. If you are on Medical you can come to the NVC for FREE. Medical is for everybody. You can have Medical on top of Medicare and your secondary insurance.
2. Medical looks @ you assets and your property of $2000. Now one person as of July 1, you can have property limits of $130,000.
3. You can get on Medical as long as your property doesn’t exceed $130,000.
4. You can have retirement, 401K etc.,
5. People on Medical can come to the CBAS program @ NVC 5 days a week and GET ALL THE SERVICES FOR FREE. You get therapy AND 2 meals a day.
6. People don’t think they quality until they talk to Jesus.
– REPORT on their new Desert Memory Club (DMC CLUB) for folks w/ more advanced Dementia and Alzheimers. Discussion of how that is determined. Cost is $20/hour or $88/day 5 days a week.
– REPORT on the “Foundation Lounge”. A SAFE SPACE…..TONIGHT: w/ dinner and entertainment for the open mic w/ Joel Baker on the piano. Opens @ 6 PM. Can do stand-up comedy, singing, dancing etc., $10. for the meal. Donation jar for the bar. Desserts too.

– REPORT on how the “beat” of a mother’s heartbeat and rushing of blood while we are in the womb helps us develop our ability to hear and sense a beat @ the 16th week in the womb.
– DISCUSSION of what you gain first is last out and the other way around too.
– MISSION STATEMENT that Dementia Help Center is the rescue plan for family caregivers.
– DISCUSSION of the question left-over from Allan in the previous segment; How do you test for Dementia/Alzheimer’s? There are multiple tests because there are over 100 different types of Dementia.
– REPORT on what form such test may take. Need to determine what part of the brain is the “healthy” part. Called the “mini mental test.”
– DISCUSSION that Dementia and Alzheimer’s may manifest in different ways w/ different symptoms.
– DISCUSSION of any change in a person’s gait is a strong indication of what is to come.
– REPORT on how IMPORTANT socialization is for D/A folks. IT IS ESSENTIAL.

– REPORT on her job description: Laura’s team of 3 raises small “gifts” of $25., $100. etc., from a current list of 1,172 donors.
– REPORT that the community may not know you can donate small amounts that allow you to participate and yet help in such a profound way.
– REPORT that their goal is $5.5 million a year. AMAZING THAT THIS AMOUNT IS RAISED from the small donor list with the small donor amounts. 94% of the funds raised go right back into the Foundation. Great stewardship.
– DISCUSSION that this provides such support for the physicians and allows them to give even better services and care to their patients. This adds that margin of excellence.
– DISCUSSION that the majority of charitable giving is done in the month of December. There are several levels of giving on the website.
– REPORT that EH is an independent, non-profit hospital and it means that EH is not part of a corporation, not working for share-holders. Monies raised STAY HERE IN THE COMMUNITY.
– REPORT that this way EH can look @ the community and see what the needs are….i.e. new the Birth Center.
– DISCUSSION of what the most needed services are for EH. Network of clinics that reaches across the Valley. EH is rated very high in the medical community around the world.

– DISCUSSION that this is week 149 of the word “pandemic.
– DISCUSSION of how walking 10,000 steps a day is so good for your cardiovascular health. Call it a New Year’s Resolution if need be. Advantage if you increase your count by another 1,000 steps a day.
– REPORT on the concern for folks FALLING. Especially in the rain. Check the tread on your shoes. (Best to walk around your house in shoes, NOT FLIP FLOPS, not slippers, but SHOES for better support). Check your rugs on the floor, cords on the floor. Especially if you are taking drugs that thin your blood for instance, a fall can be more likely and very serious.
– DISCUSSION of most heart attacks occurring first thing in the morning, when you get out of bed BECAUSE the hormones that activate your blood pressure are most active in the morning to help you wake from sleep, so best to sit on the side of the bed for a moment to get acclimated.
