1. New side effects after the 2nd shot (Folks are getting fearful before the 2nd shot. Less than 2 % of folks don’t get their 2nd shot)
– REPORT that it is difficult for D.O.H.C. to get vaccines here in Riverside County. Margins changing for the time between shots. No problem, just get the 2nd shot when you can.
– ANNOUNCEMENT that IF YOU ARE ALREADY getting sick w/ the virus (symptoms or not) there are therapies available NOW that will keep you out of hospital. New oral agent, Molnupiravir, for these cases is available.
2. Children rates of COVID growing. (Children STILL get better faster. Kids can’t get some of the drugs, but children don’t get very ill.)
3. Rate of virus visible in the sewer water in the Coachella Valley getting lower? (It has always been a surrogate ‘marker’ for the community).

BROOKDALE MIRAGE INN w/ Kurt Suminski re: 72750 Country Club Dr., Rancho Mirage, CA., 92270. He is the Clare Bridge/Memory Facility Program Co-Ordinator.
– DISCUSSION of the Three levels @ Brookdale care provides: 1.) Independent Living 2.) Assisted Living and 3.) Memory Care/Alzheimer’s/Dementia (Clare Bridge, 20 residents) that Kurt oversees.
– REPORT on new Executive Director, Mr. Us Valdo. Very experienced in assisted living facilities.
– REPORT that everyone; staff and residents, has gotten their 2nd shot. Partnered w/ CV Pharmacy who came to the site. Starting to open up little by little.
– REPORT that there are a few vacancies.
– REPORT that in Independent and Assisted Living facilities things are opening up a bit.
– DISCUSSION that Ashley is planning activities for St. Patrick’s Day.
– REPORT that all the residents “live” under one roof and are not quite able to live w/out masks yet.
– REPORT that some units have full kitchens, some have kitchenettes.
– REPORT on the procedure when the facility “opens back up” w/ family and friends coming back to visit.
– DISCUSSION that in Memory Care on St. Patrick’s Day there will be green ice cream and “Shamrock Shakes”. These residents knew “something was different” during this Pandemic, but not exactly “what”. Irish coffees too.
– DISCUSSION of the peace and quiet @ Brookdale and on all of the grounds there.
– Open campus pretty soon hopefully.

– QUESTION FROM A “JOEY PAL”. “Do you get Dementia or Alzheimers first. (1. There are over 98 forms of Dementia. Determined by a scan of the brain. What parts of your brain may have shrunk? i.e. lewy bodies dementia.)
– REPORT Lewy Bodies has similar symptoms w/ Parkinson’s Disease. This is in the frontal temporal lobe. No part of dementia is part of normal aging.
– REPORT that diagnosis shows w/ behavior changes, gait, verbiage etc.
– DESCRIPTION of some of the tests involved. i.e. “mini mental state” exam.
– TIP to enriching the health of your brain is to focus and to concentrate.

– DISCUSSION of how someone would know if something happened to one living alone after a loss and the changes to adjusting to that lifestyle. i.e. don’t go outside w/out your cell phone etc.
– DISCUSSION of how people continue to hurt after a loss and everything that can trigger the pain.

NEURO VITALITY CENTER w/ Dr. Jay Seller re: Program Director and Executive Director. 2800 E. Alejo, Palm Springs, CA. He is a Doctor of Organizational Leadership, i.e. how to run non-profits.
– REPORT that there was a vaccination clinic.
– REPORT that they WILL BE ABLE TO OPEN AGAIN on April 15. There will be Personal Protection Procedures @ that point in time.

– NEED for a boxing coach for the returning Parkinson’s Boxing Classes that benefit the patients so very much. Great socialization benefits. The program also has a robotic punching bag.
– REPORT on the benefits from the Boxing Class for the Parkinson’s patients. Usually 3 times a week.
– REPORT on the benefits of some of their exercises for the stroke patients. Usually 5 times a week.
– DISCUSSION that there are ZOOM meetings all day long for clients.
– REPORT that people get to NVC by themselves, bus and taxi services, bus, etc.
– REPORT that lunch service is what is offered.

– DISCUSSION of his coming here in 2018 from New Orleans. Trained @ U.C. San Diego.
– DEFINITION of cerebral vascular disease…i.e. stroke. Not everyone who has a TBI will get a stroke.
– DEFINITION of EEG. Electroencephalogram. More complicated than an EKG. EEG is to determine a seizure or epileptic seizure. Epilepsy affects all ages and there are treatments for patients of all ages.
– DISCUSSION of chronic migraine issues. Mostly women. Don’t know why that is.
– REPORT on how to diagnosis migraine. Difficult because there is no test, no picture, etc., Clinical diagnosis. Menopause can cause or cure migraines.
– DISCUSSION of men w/ migraines. Treatments for men and women w/ migraines are the same. Pills to stop an occurring migraine and pills to prevent migraines. Start w/ “over-the-counter” preparations.
– DISCUSSION of the 3 stages of Alzheimer and how he treats same. Medicines for Dementia are not great @ this point in time. Drugs just make the “trip” a bit smoother.

1. What can be done about a lost pet? (Go to every shelter, every radio and tv station to get the word out. Announce if the lost animal is chipped. Put up fliers, talk to neighbors. Go to www.petfinders.com and there are more suggestions for searching for a lost pet.)
– REPORT that indoor cats are not @ risk of being lost.
– REPORT that Dogs DO WHAT THEY ARE ASKED and CATS TAKE A MESSAGE!!!!
2. What about the Orange Country German Shepherd rescue facility. (All volunteer organization w/ a presence here in the Desert. Primarily German Shepherds.)
– REPORT that homeless owners care for their animals better than they care for themselves.

store bought” and better for animals.
