NEURO VITALITY CENTER w/ Allan H. Jensen re: Ex. Dir. 2800 E. Alejo Rd., Palm Springs.
– DISCUSSION of their mission statement; focus on the patient, NOT the disease. Work w/ people who have neurological issues.
– REPORT that Neuro Vitality Center is NOW OFFICIALLY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AGAIN!!!!
– DISCUSSION of how the clients are so excited to see folks IN PERSON again. Great energy in the Center.
– REPORT that they are an adult day center. Social activities, state-of-the-art gym, full staff to guide folks. Folks come to be w/ “like-minded” folks.
– REPORT that during the 70 weeks of Pandemic folks have attrified in their skill levels.
– REPORT that they provide services, many times for FREE, and will help w/ all the paperwork.
– REPORT that they are now affiliated thru CBAS (CA, based adult services) and can get programs for many folks @ no charge.
– REPORT on their food program for lunch @ the Center. Can be free if you’re on the CBAS program, otherwise $4. GREAT FOOD.
– DISCUSSION that they work w/ Sun Bus to pick you up and drop you off for FREE.
– REPORT on the need for volunteers. Just call.
– DISCUSSION that they are open Monday thru Friday from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Start seeing clients about 8 ish. Best to call and make an appointment.
– REPORT on the variety of clients they serve. Almost anybody. Will be enlarging their services soon for MS clients.

DEMENTIA HELP CENTER w/ Kae Hammond re: President & Founder.
– REPORT on the Mission Statement; Save you the time, energy, money and pain that DHC has spent in learning how to do these things. Especially in how to manage the issues that always seem to come up. Rescue plan for the family caregiver.
– REPORT that how we can now identify some of the different Dementias and how they are now being diagnosed. i.e. mri, pet scan, behaviors etc.
– REPORT that her book is “Pathways – A guidebook for dementia and Alzheimer family caregivers”. You can get it from Amazon.
– REPORT on the identification of beta amyloid in the human brain to help w/ the treatment and measurement of Dementia/Alzheimer for living patients. Can also help identify what form of Dementia the patient has. The need for a “footprint” when the first warning signs show up, i.e. behavioral changes, cognitive changes, gait changes etc.,
– DISCUSSION of her friend named Tony who is an expert in natural procedures, supplements and treatments…..not necessarily PRESCRIPTION DRUGS.
– REPORT on being inside so much due to the heat…..SO take your loved one for a drive, turn on their favorite music. Good for both the patient and the care-giver.

– DISCUSSION of why there are no such things as tours of the Cemeteries. Privacy issues etc.
– DISCUSSION of how nice it is to have movies and photos w/ which to remember someone. Be certain to provide those to your family and friends. Provides your life history.
– DISCUSSION on the photo of the resident in a home on their door in a time frame that they could remember…i.e. high school. Also relevant photos of residents in the beauty shop for the same reason.
– REPORT that the photos make the person’s WHOLE LIFE SEEM MORE REAL to the living…not just the older person your remember toward the end of life.
– Questions from “Joey Pals”.
1. How detailed should my instruction be for MY FINAL DAYS. (Person has specific wishes, i.e. music, lighting, visitors, food, pictures, candles, temperature, etc. NEED TO COMMUNICATE THESE WISHES WHILE YOU STILL CAN).
– REPORT that you need to let people TALK about their final days WHEN THEY WANT TO. Even when it’s difficult to hear.
– REPORT that you should pre-plan and pre-pay you funeral wishes. HAVE THE CONVERSATION.

– REPORT on the mission statement. Founded in 1991 by Dr. Reynaldo J. Carreon. Gives assistance to the Valley’s youth of Mexican-American ancestry in pursuing a higher education and/or vocational training. They must maintain a certain grade point average.
– REPORT that the Carreon Foundation presented 2021 Annual Scholarship Awards totaling over $136,000.00 to 74 winners.
– REPORT that the application process begins Feb., 2022.
– REPORT that there is always a need for sponsors and donors to help.

– REPORT on the importance of microchipping. Many more locations can micro-chip your animals and that scanners are NOW universal.
– DISCUSSION that scanners are now available @ Fire Stations as well to read microchips. All of Animal Shelters have scanners. All vets have scanners.
– DISCUSSION of how rewarding it is when a lost animal is reunited w/ it’s owner due to a microchip.
– REPORT that you MUST update your chip information if you change phones, move, etc.
– DISCUSSION that when you donate to food banks PLEASE include food and supplies for animals.
– REPORT that the protocols for animals are ahead of the protocols and procedures we just put in place for COVID-19.
– REPORT on the exchange of air required (@ all businesses) by law passed June 17, 2021.
– LOVING ALL ANIMALS will ALWAYS be a “no-kill” shelter.

1. Do the vaccines from Pfiser and Moderna offer long term protection? (Yes, it looks that way. Mrna vaccines (Pfiser and Moderna) and Johnson and Johnson in combination may be better as a booster).
2. I got my 1st shot, should I go get a booster? (Yes, if you got 1 shot, GO GET THE 2ND, if you got 1 shot of J’nJ no one is being told to get a booster yet after you have completed your series.)
3. CA. has banned travel to FL., MT. AK., NC., and WV.? (That pertains to funding for government travel only).
4. What is this new drug for ADHA? (lisdexamfetamine – check w/ your primary care physician.)
5. There’s a new drug for the treatment and prevention of Alzheimers? (A Beta drug w/ some controversy over the approval.)
6. How can I get proof of vaccination for travel? (CA. has a new program in place for vaccination registration. You can access it yourself and store it on your phone. Link is on www.mydohc.com. You will get a QR code.)

– REPORT on the results for D.O.H.C.’s “40 for 40” campaign. D.O.H.C. gave away an additional $40,000. to 10 different charities. Results can be seen @ www.mydohc.com. #1 – Palm Springs Animal Shelter. #2 – F.I.N.D. Food Bank. (51% of the population here in the CV will experience some kind of food deprivation.)

– DISCUSSION of the various marketing tools/offers @ the Ballpark.
– REPORT on being here since 2000. Mostly athletes from College. Doing a “non-conference” schedule.

– REPORT that games are all played @ Palm Springs Stadium. 13 teams in the League.
– SPECIAL PROMOTIONS; Tues., $2. Beers. Wed. $1. A child. Sat., 1/2 off bottles of beer. Largest mist system in the desert.
– REPORT on his three children w/ Vicky. All the various competitions for the children in the stands. i.e. bounce house.
– REPORT on $13. All-inclusive tickets.
– DISCUSSION of how “host families” were this year.
– REPORT that there is a game TONIGHT @ 5 PM then there will be wrestling for the entertainment of the fans. No fireworks or game TOMORROW on the 4th.
– REPORT that sometimes after an early start to a game there is a concert after the game. Various local bands.
– DISCUSSION of their record of 11 and 1 on the Season. They lost a game in extra innings.
