Leads the COVID-10 Taskforce.
– REPORT that we are now starting our 27th. week of “Sheltering in Place”.
– REPORT that CA. has surpassed 775,000 cases, only Brazil has a higher per capita rate than the U.S. figure.
– REPORT that Australia and New Zealand are almost @ 0.
– REPORT that we have 9 vaccines in development now and Pfiser has over 9,000 people enrolled in the trials and have extended their trials down to 16-year olds and also folks w/ HIV.
– DISCUSSION of how we will “live” w/ this virus going forward, as we live w/ others, i.e. polio, sars, etc. May be seasonal etc.,
– REPORT that the vaccine now is a “two-shot” but going forward the hope is for a “one-shot” annual vaccine.
– DISCUSSION of a question from a “Joey Pal”…”herd mentality”. i.e. people who like to wear or do not like to wear masks is an example of “herd mentality”. Dr. Robert Ray Redfield, the head of the CDC has said that the “mask” is probably MORE IMPORTANT that a vaccine.
– REPORT that we are waiting to see if there is a surge a few weeks after Labor Day and so far we have NOT seen spikes in the number of cases.
– DISCUSSION that Riverside County has moved into the “red” tier.
– REPORT that hospital numbers are down. Our community is @ 4 – 6 %.
– REPORT that D.O.H.C. has given over 4,000 flu shots in their drive-thru facilities.

– REPORT of more good news;
1. We have 9 vaccines in trials now.
2. DISCUSSION that we are running out of monkeys for the research tests for the flu vaccine.
3. 9 COVID-19 vaccines are now in clinical trial. There are enough folks in these study trials to start to assess the validity of the vaccine.
4. REPORT that the 8,000 clinical trials in S. America and S. Africa are over and the results can be studied NOW. Signs that the results are very positive. Safety data takes longer to determine.
5. NOVEMBER or DECEMBER we will have the first doses of a vaccine for health care workers. The world will be on it’s way to being vaccinated by next Spring.
6. DISCUSSION of the folks who believe that this whole thing is a farce and won’t get a vaccine.
7. Get your flu shot NOW. Supply is running low. D.O.H.C. has done 5,000 doses so far.
8. DOHC members will now have access to the FREE “rapid-id” test for COVID-19 w/ results in 5 minutes on all DOHC campuses and Immediate Care Facilities. Can test @ the same time for stress, virus, COVID-19, etc.
– DISCUSSION of the “at home” tests that are being developed.
– REPORT on the great DOHC website FOR ANYONE TO USE. Barry Dayton keeps it so current.

– REPORT that sales of pj’s has skyrocketed. Clothes have a purpose. “Dress for Success”.
– SUGGESTION that if you are home schooling, keep in touch w/ the school/teacher because you must be a PART of the virtual learning NOW.
– SUGGESTION that someone in the family has to be the person to “remember to remember”. WRITE IT DOWN and take the pressure off by writing it down.
– REPORT on her thoughts/predictions of how all of this home schooling will affect our children going forward. Thoughts on special education cases.

RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK w/ Pat Milsop re: “Flemings Steakhouse and Wine Bar”. 71800 Hwy., 111, Rancho Mirage, CA. 92270.
– REPORT on his beautiful outside dining @ the River and into the “common area”.
– REPORT that you can dine outside 7 days a week. When we can dine inside Flemings will have 12 tables.
