AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN w/ Kathi Farber re: President of A.A.U.W.
– REPORT on the Mission Statement: to advance gender identity of women and girls through research, education and advocacy. This is achieved through a variety of programs.
– DISCUSSION of how A.A.U.W. started in Boston by 5 women in 1881 who wanted to empower women.
– REPORT that A.A.U.W is a national grass-roots organization.
– REPORT that the local chapter was founded in Jan., of 1948 and now serves all 9 cities in the Coachella Valley. The main program is Tech/Treck/Stem (Science, technology, engineering and math) started in CA. over 20 years ago. Now in 9 different states. For young girls who will be entering 8th grade in the Fall.
– REPORT that the STEM camp is for a week in the summer and the girls are emersed in these activities.
– DISCUSSION that A.A.U.W. is looking for new volunteer members, since most of their current members are retired. There’s an active alumni group.

Associated w/ obesity. 1200 calories a day on this diet. You will lose 1 to 2 lbs. per week and the fat will go away and the insulin resistance goes away. The Mediterranean Diet is a good one for this. You can possibly get OFF the meds.)
