– QUESTIONS from “Joey Pals”.
1. I am worried about Windows 11.  Will it just “appear” on my computer? (Windows hasn’t updated for 8 years or so. Don’t worry for a while. Not a requirement, just available.  Windows 10 will be supported until Oct., 14 of 2025)
2. Should I upgrade before that? (You can test your computer to see if it is compatible w/ the new Windows).
– DISCUSSION of new laptops out there. i.e. HP Spector is the X360-14. Can use as a tablet or laptop.
3. Can you be tracked by Google? (You can go into “manage your google account” and go to privacy/history and turn OFF location history.)
– REPORT that the official release of Windows 11 will be in quarter 4.
– DISCUSSION of the changes you will see in Windows 11 vs. 10.  Taskbar, file explorers, multi-tasking, The Microsoft store is completely changed. You can see some of these changes now.
– REPORT that Facebook is easy to hack and you should TURN off any old apps you are not using any more.  Lots of folks are deleting their FB accounts permanently. Call Dennis to do this properly.
4. I got too many spams over the Holidays? (Depends on the browser you are using to get to your email.  Block the senders/Spam control buttons. Google filters out a lot of this for gmail users.)
– REPORT on how Dennis can “take over” your computer and NOW also your phone and IPad remotely, monitor hacks, and run all diagnostic checks for $50./month for up to 3 devices. Spam Assassin is one of his programs. He can check remotely if you have the TPM on your computer. His connection w/ his clients is encrypted and SAFE.

PALM SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL w/ Mayor Lisa Middleton. 3200 E. Tahquitz Cyn., Way, Palm Springs, 92262.
– REPORT that the City is in a very difficult place W this point in time due to Covid and the cancellation of the Palm Springs International Film Festival this coming Jan. IT WILL BE BACK.
– DISCUSSION of the millions of dollars that are at risk during a production by a major studio, everyone understands why the PSIFF had to be cancelled.
– REPORT on the City’s Homelessness Situation.  Difficult and worse during Covid.  Unhoused (due to economic reasons) and the City is working to get them into housing and back to work.  The City has placed hundreds of these folks and is working extensively w/ charities, i.e. Martha’s Village.
– REPORT that many homeless are children and seniors.  IMPORTANT STATEMENT FROM THE MAYOR….when you see a homeless person and are tempted to give them some money, IT IS BETTER to buy them food, or take them to a shelter so they don’t spend the monies on drugs.
– REPORT on the statis of crime prevention in Palm Springs and the wonderful new police chief Andrew Mills.  We have very little crime compared to other communities.  Our tourist population and car thefts are tempting to criminals.

“KELLY’S CORNER” w/ Steve Kelly.
– REPORT honoring Terry Masters who died Christmas Eve, 2021.
– Terry was a radio personality/legend from 920 AM, KPSI (known as Bob Clark) @ Power 100.5 FM too.  Born and raised here.  Went to Palm Springs High. Saw him recently @ the memorial service for Ric Supple.
– Terry became a wonderful, respected plein air artist in his second career.
– Google Terry Masters and see his all his lovely art work.
– REPORT on Joey’s former engineer, Dave Hassinger, a Grammy Award winner @ KPSI radio owned by Ric and Rozene Supple.
– REPORT honoring John Madden (4.10.1936 – 12.28.2021)
– A legend in football. Known to younger people as one of the most successful video games named after him.
– John Madden was hired by Al Davis and took over the Raiders. John Madden was 85 when he passed away.  Famous for SMOKING on the sidelines.  He was born in Indiana, grew up in the Bay Area.  After there was a horrific plane crash involving a whole team, HE HATED FLYING and that became part of his “act”.
– He took the bus everywhere.  He started on Fox, w/ Pat Summerall.  John really knew how to draw the yellow lines on the football screen.
– He worked for all 4 major networks.
– Madden was larger than life.  He was very respectful of the older players of the game.
– Madden hated artificial turf AND “THE WAVE”.
– Madden was a nice guy.

He was 6’ and 175 lbs. and then began football his senior year in high school.  Then Fred went to Northwestern University on a track scholarship and then switched to football under Coach Ara Parseghian.  Then he was drafted by the 49 ers. (starting salary was $9,500/year). He became a cornerback. He earned his nickname “the Hammer”.
– DISCUSSION of his becoming an original Raider from Pittsburgh.
– REPORT on his 5 years w/ the Raiders and then being traded to the Chiefs for 5 years and they ended up going to the 1st Super Bowl.
