– REPORT that “To Screen or Not to Screen” stressed NO MATTER WHAT YOUR AGE, get screened for breast cancer.
– DISCUSSION of the definition of Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Not estrogen driven. Triple Negative Breast Cancer is showing up in younger women.
– DISCUSSION of “The Risks of Breast Cancer” via H.A.R.C. “Breast Cancer is the disease of statistics.” One in 8 women will develop Breast Cancer. Most common cancer here in the Desert is skin cancer. Second most common cancer is breast. One in 5 cancer survivors in the CV have been diagnosed w/ breast cancer.

PALM SPRINGS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE w/ Nona Watson re: Chief Executive Officer. 190 W. Amado Road, Palm Springs, CA.
– DISCUSSION that Palm Springs is back in the Purple Tier.
– REPORT that the Chamber has NEVER BEEN CLOSED. Moved the Visitor’s Center from the Tram into the Chamber office.
– REPORT that the Tram is still open. Cars have social distancing in place. Restaurants are open for outdoor dining @ this point in time. Need to purchase your Tram tickets in advance.
– DISCUSSION that Palm Canyon “test” of closing the street for restaurants and retail will end this coming week. Possible 2 outside lanes will be closed for restaurants and retail and inside 2 lanes will be for cars.

– DISCUSSION of “Joey Pal” question…. What impact will COVID-19 and the fact that Canadians are not coming to the CV. They have insurance on their home here as a secondary residence. Insurance will remain the same if the owner doesn’t come down this year.
– REPORT that sometimes have someone “check” on your empty home can cause more claims accidentally than not having someone check. I.e. accidentally leaving water running, etc.
– REPORT on car insurance for part-time residents. He handles all these changes FOR his Canadian clients.
– REPORT that anyone with a security system on their home, part-time or not, gets a discount.
– REPORT that business is good because homes are selling here in the CV.

Leads the COVID-10 Taskforce.
– REPORT that we are beginning our 31st week of “Sheltering in Place”.
– REPORT that we are technically still in the “red” and hope not to regress to the “purple” level when more restrictions will resume. But our numbers REALLY ARE IN THE PURPLE.
– REPORT that positivity rate is currently still below 6%. We are “undertesting” though. CV has 9.2 cases per day.
– REPORT that less than 10% of the deaths in the CV are under 64.
– CLARIFICATION; if you come to be tested and you are asymptomatic you will get a nasal swab, it will be sent to a lab and you will be required to quarantine until that result comes back in a couple of days.
– CLARIFICATION; if you come to be tested and you have symptoms you will get the Rapid Id test w/ results in 5 minutes and you will be required to quarantine @ home. The DOHC team will follow your progress @ home.
– REPORT that across the country most of the new cases are coming from families!!!

– UPDATE on the many vaccines in phase 3 trials now. Dr. Hodgkin’s favorite is the Oxford one. Moderna (2 shots), Pfiser (1 shot), AstraZeneca, Eli Lily, etc. Then monitor the results for another 2 months THEN we can have the vaccine.
– REPORT that NONE of these vaccines being tested and produced in the U.S. has EVER been done before.
– DISCUSSION of the procedure China is testing.
– REPORT that NOW D.O.H.C. will have the RapidID test available!!!!
– REPORT that the vaccine that will come first will require 2 shots. DISCUSSION of the part shark’s liver plays in the making of our vaccine. REPORT that the mink population is dying off because the minks are very susceptible to this virus and are being destroyed.

– DISCUSSION of living in F.E.A.R. @ this time. False Evidence Appearing Real. FEAR caused by 1. Isolation during this time. 2. Uncertainty for themselves and their loved ones.
– DISCUSSION that we crave security. We want to feel safe w/ a certain sense of control. FEAR because of the fires, the political climate, the economic scene and the pandemic.
– HER USE of Helen Keller’s quote “keep your face to the light so you won’t see the shadows”.
– DISCUSSION on the “trickle down effect” all this FEAR has on children. Children “catch” more than you teach”. But children are more resilient. If a child has ONE good model/hero to show them love and acceptance a child can learn to love themselves, etc.
– DISCUSSION of the need to be “authentic” w/ a child. Use “age appropriate” language though.
– REPORT on how to handle FEAR out in the world. Stress is NOT good for us. “Re-boot” yourself emotionally and mentally. Have boundaries against the negative things.
– REPORT that her clients feel anxiety, fear and depression. Use healthy habits. Focus on today. Share the positive energy w/ your family in the verbiage that works for you. FIND YOUR HAPPY SPOT.
