F.I.N.D. (Food In Need of Distribution) w/ Debbie Espinosa re: 83775 Citrus Ave., Indio, CA.
– REPORT on their mission statement; FIND FOOD BANK is dedicated to relieving hunger, the causes of hunger and the problems associated w/ hunger through awareness, education and mobilization of resources and community involvement.
– DISCUSSION of the 20 million lbs. of food they distribute yearly. 30% is fresh food and vegetables.
– DISCUSSION of where the food comes from..i.e. fed. Gov’t, corporations, people who do food drives around the community, etc.
– EXPLANINATION: of “close to code” date.
– DISCUSSION of “who” get the food. FIND is the regional food bank in the CV. They give food to;
1. 75% goes to non-profits. i.e. The CenterPS, DAPHealth, churches etc.
2. 125,000 folks get food from FIND.
– REPORT on how the folks who need food are identified.
– DISCUSSION of the coolers and freezers they have to keep certain foods fresh.
– REPORT on the new facility they are building.
– REPORT that one in six persons in the CV struggles w/ food insecurity.
