– HISTORY AND MISSION; Sheila has been In this field for over 40 years. Michael’s House;
1. Providing addiction treatment for over 35 years.
2. Started in 1989 by a mother who lost her son Michael in 1984 to a drug overdose.
3. 8,500 folks have been treated. 18 years and up and stable.
4. This month is “National Recovery Month” being celebrated w/ their community partners.
– REPORT on the #1 main treatment center on Camino Real for detoxification and residential treatment for 7 – 10 days. Then an additional 2 or 3 weeks of treatment and learning about addiction. Called “dual disorder” because the addiction and the underlying cause are treated.
– REPORT on the #2 transitional outpatient treatment center @ 515 North Palm Canyon, where the client can stay an additional time.
– REPORT on the #3 transitional living center on Cahuilla where one can “practice” living a joyful, clean and sober life. They can go to work, return there, etc.
– HOLD THE DATE:

– DISCUSSION of all the staff provided and the connection for continuing their therapy after they leave Michael’s House. A “sponsor” is also provided.
