- Amid growing concerns about the spread of the Delta variant and a surge in local COVID-19 cases, the Palm Springs City Council approved new safety requirements including:
- Customers, employees and other visitors are now required to wear face coverings in indoor settings, such as stores and restaurants, regardless of vaccination status.
- Proof of vaccine or negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours required indoors when entering a bar or restaurant. Businesses must implement these requirements by August 26.
- Face coverings now required at VillageFest.

- The outdoor Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden in Palm Desert is now open to the public everyday from sunrise to sunset.

- Due to the recent surge in COVID 19 Cases- the Palm Springs Cultural Center is reinstituting its mask policy. All attendees regardless of vaccination status are required to socially distance and mask up.
