1. Drinking alcohol does not kill the coronavirus.
2. Best way to wash your hands.
3. What is the best % of alcohol in a hand sanitizer.
4. Compound pharmacies and wineries are now making hand sanitizers.
5. DEFINITION of testing (swabs) vs. screening.
6. REPORT on the tent outside their Immediate Care Facility and the timing of the return on the results of the coronavirus test.
7. DEFINITION of isolation (you have symptoms) and quarantine.
8. CDC has changed their priorities on whom to screen for COVID-19. Assessment, screening and a test. CALL FIRST (760) 969-6555.
9. REPORT that Italy has an older population, vs. S. Korea that has a younger population.
10. REPORT that CA. has 3,100 cases over all but C. V. now has 31 cases.
11. 1135 Government order (Stafford Act) is in place. Whereas we can make immediate changes, i.e. change a hotel into a hospital, etc.
12. Building of a “tent” hospital in Indio on the Fairgrounds.
13. DISCUSSION of how the coronavirus will do when our temperatures go over 83 degrees. This coronavirus will probably be seasonal.
14. Once you have the coronavirus, IT’S GONE. Learned this from the MERS virus.

– REPORT on the fact that men seem to be more susceptible than women to COVID-19.
1. Seems to be due to the different hormone levels in men and women.
2. Immune system is encoded on your X chromosome. Women have 2 of these, men have only 1. REPORT that “country folks” seem to have better immunity than the “city folks”.
3. Men seem to smoke more than women.
4. Men have more “co-morbid” conditions than Women.
– Younger folks seem to do better. 80% of U.S. deaths are 65 and above.

– Eisenhower Health was the 1st hospital in the County to have a COVID-19 patient….and that’s when EH began to plan for this eventuality….they established their hotline @ that point in time.

– Puts policies in place and educates toward infection prevention.
– REPORT on the positive “atmosphere” @ EH. The COMMAND CENTER @ EH.

– Community is donating toward needed ventilators.
– If you are mildly sick, STAY HOME, call the EH hotline. No need to be tested.

– DISCUSSION of COVID-19’s most important info…is to SHELTER IN PLACE. Not a recommendation, it’s an order.
– DISCUSSION of how/when to shop. NO FOOD SHORTAGE.
– REPORT on the web site; loans, unemployment, etc., info in one place. Will get a postcard from the City w/ the latest information as well.

– REPORT on the Homeless Situation
1. Many hotels have a voucher program in place to house homeless.
2. P.S.H.S. has opened their gym to house homeless w/ cots and showers for 50 people.
3. Added portable outdoor bathrooms and portable hand washing stations. Regularly cleaned and checked. Have ordered more of these.
4. HOME CONNECT NUMBER for any one in Riverside County needing shelter or help (800) 498-8847.

– REPORT that the State and County has sent out documents for all the rules.
1. Cannot leave your “shelter in place” home for non-essential things.
