RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK w/ John Fritch re: Ex., Chef and general manager of “Peaks” 1 Tram Way, Palm Springs, CA. 92262.
– He’s also the President of the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce.
– REPORT on the weather/view @ the Top of the Tram, @ “Peaks”. REPORT on the Breakfast w/ Santa and the Choirs that were performing.
– Will be open Christmas Day @ Peaks and Pines Café. Special menus and/or regular ones.
– DISCUSSION of the closing in January for the remodeling of Peaks. Temporary move of the restaurant while the construction goes on.
– REPORT on the drinks for the cold weather. They make their own buttered rum batter.
– Peaks is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
– Pines Café is more family oriented, “grab and go”. Everything is made from scratch and very fresh.
– The Top of the Tram is the #1 tourist attraction in the Coachella Valley.

– DISCUSSION of what constitutes a “clinical trial”. There are 80 clinical trials currently going on. How participants are selected.
– Clinical trials are conducted in every specialty.
– Number one concern is patient safety.
– DISCUSSION of the partnership w/ the FDA. EH is completely regulated and very closely monitored.
– Clinical trials run different lengths.

– He’ll be mayor for one year now that we have 5 districts and a rotating mayor. Palm Springs residents helped to define this new system so that the public was truly part of the process.
– How several council members altered their terms to facilitate the whole council on a regular election schedule.
– All public notices and mailings are now bi-lingual.
– The new electrical energy efficient programs that he is orchestrating here in the Valley, led by Palm Springs w/ Desert Community Energy. 100% Carbon free power.
– 1st Monday in January, Indian Canyon will go two ways. 2 lanes going north, 1 lane going south and the turning lane in the middle. Impact for pedestrian safety and business benefits. Palm Springs got 6 of the 10 competitive grants to accomplish this change.
– DISCUSSION of “Marilyn” project w/ P.S. Resorts and where she will be.
– UPDATE on the Restoration of the Palm Springs Plaza Theater w/ Robert Moon and J.R. Roberts; the Andaz Hotel.
– DISCUSSION of the homeless problem and how his administration is addressing it. We are the only city of the CV w/ both a daytime and nighttime shelter.
