– REPORT that Dec., 14 Alaska Airlines starts their new non-stop service from PSP to JFK. It will run 5 days a week thru April. And Jet Blue has the “red-eye” to New York as well.

RED JEEP TOURS “MOUNTAINS OF FUN” w/ Rick Curtiss re; 74-794 Lennon Pl., Ste., B. Palm Desert.
– REPORT that Red-Jeep Tours is in it’s 36th year. Was started by a woman.
– REPORT that reptiles “brumate” and small desert mammals “estivate”.
– REPORT that they are “back to their regular schedule” of tours. Doing morning and afternoon tours again. 8 AM and 1 PM.
– REPORT They have 15 Jeeps and 2 SUVs. They have 40 drivers/guides. All are well-trained and make their own tours up. Although there is a list of required things to show on the tour. They run tours 3 or 4 days a week depending on the weather.
1. San Andreas Fault Tour – the regular main tour in the morning. We live @ the southern end of this fault. Our fault is “gentle”. 2 a day. 8 AM and 1 PM.
2. Indian Canyons – only in the weekends, weather permitting.
3. Still doing Joshua Tree – leave the Valley early to avoid the heat. 1 a day.
4. Cancelling the Painted Canyon Tour in the summer.
– REPORT that they are only doing one tour and get off the Desert floor before it gets hot. Start earlier.
– DISCUSSION of the tour items they have for animals, babies, older folks etc.
– REPORT that there are 5 Canyons; Palm, Andreas, Murray, Chino and Tahquitz REPORT on the 3 ways the plates move. 1. Subduction zone. 2. Plate spreading. 3. Strike/slip.
– DISCUSSION of what they do when they encounter a rattlesnake.
– DISCUSSION of roadrunners. Territorial and cannot fly. They eat rattlesnakes. Their footprint has two toes going backward and two toes going forward. Prints don’t tell which direction the bird was going.

1. If you rub your feet together when you go to bed, will you sleep better? (This is called “cricket feet” and yes, it has a calming effect and will help you sleep better. WOW!!!.)
2. Does going to bed an hour later increases your chances of getting killer diseases? (Yes if you understand the definition of “good sleep” w/ a pattern of good food and exercise habits.)
3. Is sitting in the hot tub the same as 30 minutes of jogging? (Yes, especially in the legs and for circulation. Walking still helps the blood flow, blood pressure and your heart.)
4. Does the Covid shot increase the risks of strokes in older adults? (According to the FDA, they are looking into this and especially the combination of the FLU AND Covid shot.)

READ WITH ME VOLUNTEER PROGRAM w/ Sean Webb, Director 1, Literary Outreach, Riverside County Office of Education. Partnership w/ Literacy by 5th Grade.
– REPORT that this organization has been in the CV for 20 years. Mission is to be certain that all our students are literate. Focus on elementary students where English is perhaps NOT the primary language in the home.
– REPORT that they are in 20 schools w/ 600 volunteers. All the way from Salton Sea to DHS.
– DISCUSSION of the volunteer’s duties. i.e. help the teachers. Found students can READ the words, but not UNDERSTAND the words.
– DISCUSSION of the impact the Pandemic had on the students learning to read.
– REPORT that Volunteers are asked to do 1 to 2 hours a week w/ a commitment of time of 8 weeks. Programs vary from school to school.
– REPORT that they gave out $95,000. In books in addition to the tutoring hours they provided.
– DISCUSSION that donations of any size are needed too.
